Since easily portable computers such as laptops and notebooks have become more commonly used with SongShow Plus, there has been an increase in problems with maintaining the SongShow Plus Display Settings. This can be especially problematic if different numbers or types of external displays are connected at each location.

A common scenario is that the laptop is moved between the sanctuary (where it is connected to a TV, Projector or other secondary display device) and a home office (where it is not connected to any secondary display device). A variation of this is when it is connected to a secondary display device at the home office, but it is different than the one in the sanctuary.  In either case, this means that the Windows display configuration changes every time you start up SongShow Plus.  This can cause a variety of issues - best case it only needs to be reconfigured; worst case it may cause SongShow Plus to not open as expected at all.

Make yourself very familiar with the following operations.  This will ensure that you are able to assess inconsistencies and correct settings as needed.

In order to prevent the worst behavior, we recommend the following process when moving your laptop between locations. It is best to configure SongShow Plus to use a single embedded display (the laptop display) when transporting between locations.

  • Before you move the laptop:
    • Regardless of the current configuration, place the SongShow Plus Display settings in the single embedded display configuration.
    • Close SongShow Plus.
    • Power off the laptop.
    • Disconnect all external displays.

    • After you move the laptop:
      • Connect all external displays (if any).
      • Power on the laptop.
      • Verify Windows settings.
      • Open SongShow Plus.
      • Place the SongShow Plus Display settings in the desired multi-display configuration.

If needed, refer to the article SSP Best Practices - Embedded - Using a single Display for SongShow Plus for steps.

Following these guidelines for your SongShow Plus system should contribute to trouble-free use.
