Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

* Updates affecting this feature may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

In addition to the other system settings noted in other articles, we make the following recommendations regarding the Windows system Display Settings and SongShow Plus Display Settings when using a single display device for SongShow Plus.  There are several general Best Practices for adjusting the Windows OS display settings that are worth reviewing found here, however, the focus of this article is Single Display setup.

  • Enabling Windows Displays
    • In this particular case you will only have one display connected, such as when using a laptop.  If you have a second display connected, refer to the other Display Configuration articles.
  • Configuring Windows Displays
    • In this particular case you will only have one display connected, such as when using a laptop.  If you have a second display connected, refer to the other Display Configuration articles.
    • We advise using the Recommended Display Resolution from Windows display settings for the best results.  The exception to this is when devices have a large (4K) native resolution.  In most cases this will make the content on the desktop too small to read.  Adjusting the resolution setting will correct this.
  • Scaling Windows Displays
    • We do not recommend scaling the Windows displays to anything other than 100%.  SongShow Plus is expecting a canvas that matches the display resolution and changing the scaling will most likely disrupt the proper projection outputs from SongShow Plus.
    • SongShow Plus and all of its child windows are expecting the scaling to be at 100%.  Deviation from this will adversely change the way SSP controls are displayed.
    • IF there is a desire to adjust the size of the display (this usually happens with displays with a resolution higher than 1920 x 1080) to make some content more readable, we recommend decreasing the Windows Display resolution setting to 1920 x 1080.
  • SongShow Plus Display Settings
    • By default, the Presentation display window will be placed in the secondary Windows display device of a machine, if it has one. If it does not have a secondary Windows display device, the Presentation window will be placed in the primary Windows display device behind the Presenter window (use F12 two switch between the two windows). You can make changes to the default settings for the Presentation display window through the SongShow Plus Display Settings Window.
    • Embedded Display - When using a single Windows display, it is best to use the SongShow Plus Embedded Display feature.  This will prevent several different issues related to sharing the same physical device for Presenter control and Presentation output when creating or editing content.  To set a SSP output window to Embedded:
      1. Open SongShow Plus.
      2. From the main toolbar select Settings > Display...
      3. From the Display Settings locate and select Output Window 1 (This will be the SSP Presentation output in this configuration).
      4. Locate the Placement drop menu and select Presenter Window (Embedded).
      5. Click OK to save and close the Display Settings.
      6. If it is not selected automatically, from the toolbar select View and enable the Embedded Display Panel.  This will allow you to see the Presentation output without a second physical display.

Following these guidelines for your SongShow Plus system should contribute to trouble-free use.

Training Videos - A video walk-through of this process may be available.  Depending on your current subscription level, you can go to the GoFishMedia website training page and log in with the same Customer ID and password that you use to log in to the SongShow Plus site or activate SongShow Plus. Review this article for more details.
