Feature Preview: Transport Control for Slide Shows

For a long time now, SongShow Plus used a set of navigation controls for slide shows letting users step through slides and the steps within slides, along with play, pause, rewind, etc. It was a quirky, and frankly, somewhat ungainly mechanism for controlling a slide show. In the November 2011 Edition, these controls were replaced in the Media Control Panel with complete slide previews, letting users see visually the slides and position within the slide show. This was, unquestionably, a significant improvement for the general usability of navigating slide shows. However, as quirky as the older controls were, several long-time SongShow Plus users missed those controls and made requests to have them returned.
The next edition of SongShow Plus introduces complete transport control for slide shows. This lets users scrub through a slide show using a single slider control just like they would a video file. For auto-advancing slide shows that contain video and audio files, this feature will also scrub through those files as well!
While this feature is not a return to the two-control stepping mechanism of the past, it provides the same functionality in a way that is consistent with other media files. This same mechanism is also now available for song and scripture slide shows.
Here is a screen show of how the new transport control looks:
This new feature provides a convenient way to navigate a slide show all while providing a control that is consistent with other media files.
