PTG - Program file not found after Package To Go restore operation

5/26/2023

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all version of SongShow Plus

 * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
The Package To Go (PTG) utility is not able to open a program at the end of a package restore when prompted.  An error message occurs that indicates the program file was not found.

Possible Cause:
The name of the package was changed either during or after the PTG process.  The error message at the end of the restore process is occurring because it is looking for the name of the package, not necessarily the name of the program inside the package.  The PTG tool is unable to find the program if it is not the same name as the package.

Possible Solution:
During the packaging process the name should be left at the default, which is the name of the program.  If a more descriptive name is desired, it should be changed before the PTG process is started.

NOTE: Programs packaged with different names will package and restore correctly but the program open process will fail.  You will have to manually browse the Programs folder to find your restored program.

Possible Cause:
The program that is packaged is not in the root of the Programs folder.

Possible Solution:
In order for the "program open" step at the end of the Restore process to work correctly, the source program must be in the root of the Programs folder.

NOTE: Programs saved in sub-folders will package and restore correctly but the program open process will fail.  You will have to manually browse the Programs sub-folders to find your restored program.
