SSP Media Indexer - No Media files are showing up in a particular folder in SongShow Plus after an update or import - indexer issue re-index
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to SongShow Plus Version 9.3
* Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *
Symptom:
After updating SongShow Plus OR importing new media, no media files in a specific category/folder appear after the update. i.e. after updating or importing new media in Slideshows, none of the Slideshows show up.
Possible Cause:
The new indexing process is specifically looking for expected file types. If users manually copy invalid content to a folder OR a failed import/download leaves an incomplete file behind, the indexer may not complete or have errors preventing any content from being shown.
Possible Solution:
Rebuild the SongShow Plus indexes. Refer to this article for additional instructions.
Possible Solution:
Manually view and clean up the SongShow Plus media folders. Refer to this article for additional instructions.
In this particular case, users would be looking for files that are NOT the supported file types, for example:
- Image files in the Video folder
- Unsupported Image types in the Images folder
- Incomplete downloads/imports. These may present as a file with an unknown extension like .crdownload; .part; .partial. It may also appear as a GIUD or long string of alpha-numeric characters with no extension. NONE of these belong in the SSP media folder structure and should be deleted before proceeding.
If this persists, the Legacy Indexer could be used. Please contact the support team before proceeding with changes.
This is under investigation.
