SSP not responding / hangs / hang / freezes / freeze locks up when displaying a song with a video background

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

  * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When attempting to display a song with a video background applied the operation may initially complete but then SSP will stop responding or freeze. While the song may advance the video background appears to be frozen. (1295)

NOTE: Many Intel integrated and discrete graphics solutions and drivers have eliminated DirectX9 support and will not function as expected.  Refer to article DI15 for more details.
NOTE: It is NOT recommended to use any integrated graphics solutions with SongShow Plus.

Possible Cause:
Use of Intel Integrated graphics may be inducing errors with the application of backgrounds and thumbnail generation.

Possible Solution:
Discontinue use of integrated Intel graphics. Refer to article DI15 for more details.

Possible Cause:
It appears that in some cases the simultaneous generation of thumbnails in the Media Control panel and the presentation output will cause SSP to stop responding.  The program/song may advance but will stop responding or freeze at the next object to be displayed.

This is under investigation.

Solution:
A possible workaround
suggestion is to turn off the thumbnails in the Media Control panel.

  1. Launch SongShow Plus
  2. From the main toolbar select Settings > Preferences > Song Media Control
  3. Under the Show option, select Titles Only.
This will prevent the thumbnails from being generated for Songs.  You can repeat this process for Scripture and Slide Shows if needed.

If this does not resolve the issue, contact the Support Team.
