SSP generates error messages about being unable to initialize or not able to find other programs.
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus.
Unable to Initialize
Symptom:
SSP generates error messages about being unable to initialize SongShow Plus - Unable to find or write to a file.
Possible Cause:
If the SSP Media Files database is located on another drive or system though the media files relocation tool, the destination files may be unavailable preventing the initialization of SongShow Plus. This can be caused by network reliability issues (WiFi in particular), NAS settings or availability, Windows Sync settings or other similar issues.
Possible Cause:
If the SSP database is located locally but as a sync of a third-party cloud service (Dropbox/Google/OneDrive) the destination files may be unavailable preventing the initialization of SongShow Plus. This can be caused by the individual service sync properties or processes and we have no control over those processes. NOTE: Using 3rd party cloud services in this manner with SongShow Plus is not recommended.
Troubleshooting Tip:
Reset/Create the Media Files location on the local machine (temporarily) and restart. If SSP is able to start then the issue is with the location of or connection to the remote files.
Preferred Solution:
Use a local system drive as the location for the SongShow Plus media files.
If a network location is desired for the SongShow Plus media files, use an always on, shared server location with full permissions for all users provided.
If a cloud solution is desired for the SongShow Plus media files, use the SongShow Connect subscription services.
Possible Solution:
Verify that the network destination that the SSP database resides on is consistently available. Possible network issues can prevent connection and an additional reboot may be required. ALL SongShow Plus files must be available, readable and writable (full permissions) in order to work properly. If using a third-party cloud service, contact the support team of your respective third-party service to resolve these sync or connectivity issues. NOTE: Using 3rd party cloud services in this manner with SongShow Plus is not recommended.
Unable to find program
Symptom:
SSP generates error messages about SongShow Plus not being able to find other programs like Online Bible, or SongSelect 3.0.
NOTE: All third-party bible software integration was deprecated starting in Version 9.0 due to issues with API implementations.
Possible Cause:
ProModules/plug-ins were installed that required the presence of third-party software (like QuickVerse) but the third-party software application is not installed.
Solution:
Either install the third-party software applications, or go to the add/remove programs screen in Windows and remove the problem ProModule.
Note: Some programs generate an error while SSP is loading. Others create an alert after it has loaded. In either case, the solution is the same. Uninstall the ProModule for that program, or install that program. Often the customer will also have to reinstall the ProModule/Plug-in after the program is installed.
If this article does not resolve the issue, contact the Support Team.
