SSP Media Indexer - Previously present Media files are missing from SongShow Plus after an update - indexer issue re-index

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions: 
This article applies to SongShow Plus Version 9.3

Symptom:
After updating SongShow Plus, it was discovered that some media files that showed up in the previous installation no longer appear after the update. (1165, 1166)

Possible Cause:
There was a bug in an earlier version of SongShow Plus 9.3 that removed several uncommon media extensions.  This bug was corrected in the 7/21 build of SongShow Plus 9.3.

Possible Solution:
Download and update 9.3 to the latest build to resolve the issue.

Possible Cause:
The new indexing process may not be catching newly removed, changed, added or moved content.  This may be more likely after bulk additions/deletions of media or extensive housekeeping operations were folder or files were removed, changed, added or moved.

Possible Solution:
Rebuild the SongShow Plus indexes. Refer to this article for additional instructions.

 This is under further investigation. 

Possible Cause:
The new indexing process may be skipping or incorrectly processing certain file types.

The following errors may be appearing in the indexer processes log:

  • Exception offset and size are invalid
  • update failed: Exception Read only read 7 of 8 bytes
  • update failed: Exception Read only read 3 of 8 bytes

Possible Solution:
Rebuild the SongShow Plus indexes. Refer to this article for additional instructions.

If this persists, the Legacy Indexer could be used. Please contact the support team before proceeding with changes.
