Unable to Install SSP - Installer appears not to open - blocked
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus
* Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *
Symptom:
After downloading the SongShow Plus installer from the internet, when trying to install SongShow Plus, the installer does not appear to run and is not found in the task manager.
Possible Cause:
It is possible the SongShow Plus installer was marked as potentially harmful and was blocked. This seems to be most common in Windows 11. Globally there are ways to prevent this from happening, but that is better left to individual administrators to decide to allow everything from the internet to be "safe".
If this occurs the file will have the following message "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer".
NOTE: We run a complete virus and malware scan on all of our files before publishing them. For more details on this review this article.
Possible Solution:
To allow the installer to run, follow the steps below:
- Locate the SongShow Plus installer file.
- Right click on the file and select the Properties option from the menu.
- This should open to the General tab. If not select it.
- At the bottom you will see a security message.
- Click the check box that says "unblock".
- Click OK to save and close.
- Once this is complete, you should be able to run the installer normally.
