Selected or edited background object is not displayed as expected

Symptom:
When a particular image or motion background is selected or the background property is edited it is not displayed as expected.  This may be in a program or a slide show.

The Display/Slide Properties settings that are available for objects within SongShow Plus are powerful and numerous, and this becomes both a benefit and liability when they are layered on one another for a particular look. In addition to this, effects can be applied to any or all of these layers as well, increasing the complexity of the display property settings.


Possible Cause:
One or more Display/Slide Property settings may be overriding, obscuring or otherwise causing the selected item to display incorrectly or not at all.

Possible Solution:
Check the use and settings of Global Display/Slide Properties, Program Display/Slide Properties and Item Display/Slide Properties for conflicts. These can easily be set to cancel each other out or prevent other settings from being effective. Additionally for songs, verify if there are any Display/Slide settings saved in the songs database with a song and if they are the desired settings.

 
Possible Cause:
One or more Effect settings may be overriding, obscuring or otherwise causing the selected item to display incorrectly or not at all.

Possible Solution:
Check the use and settings of ALL Effect settings in the Global Display/Slide Properties, Program Display/Slide Properties and Item Display/Slide Properties for conflicts. These can easily be set to cancel each other out or prevent other settings from being effective. Check both the Common and Advanced Effects settings for all Display/Slide Properties. Additionally for songs, verify if there are any Effects settings saved in the songs database with a song and if they are the desired settings.


Possible Cause:
When the Basic Settings are used, sometimes the first selection is not applied when it is selected from the root folder location.  This is usually shown by the checkerboard pattern background in the preview strip rather than the background that you selected.

Possible Solution:
Check the settings type and change to the Advanced settings when setting the background.  This option does not have the same issue.
Possible Solution:
Change the background type (Video - Image - Color) or change folders for the background and back to the intended selection.  This will usually correct the issue and update the preview as well.


Possible Cause:
An update to file associations may cause existing file paths to be compromised. They do appear to be correct but the link to the file appears broken and instead of a thumbnail an icon appears in the settings page.

Possible Solution:
The exact cause is unknown but when this symptom presents it appears that a package and restore process will correct these broken links.
