SongShow Sync - A problem has occurred - Access Denied error during Sync operation
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus using SongShow Sync.
Symptom:
When executing a synchronization process the user receives an error message indicating Access Denied, noting a specific file name. (893)
NOTE: This would only affect the local files - the cloud side files will still be intact.
Possible Cause:
If a file is in use during the synchronization process it will be locked and un-readable. This can occur if the file is in use in SongShow Plus or elsewhere on the system.
NOTE: in some cases the process detects and handles this but in others it does not.
Possible Solution:
If an error occurs, it may be possible to clear the issue by closing the messages and restarting SongShow Plus. Retry the Sync again.
If a restart does not correct the error then it may be possible to repair the file in question using the Sync Snapshot history.
- Make note of the file name in the error message.
- From the main SSP toolbar select Tools >Snapshot Versions > select repository.
- In the Version History, work back from the most recent date and locate the last entry for the file in question.
- Select and right click the file then select the Restore File option.
- Restart SongShow Plus and attempt the Sync process again.
If the repair operation does not work then try the following:
- If you have not already - on the system in question, launch Sync to trigger the error. Capture or make note of the full error, especially the path.
- Move any content you want to save that has not been synced to a local folder.
- Launch SSP and select Settings > Synchronized Folders... then follow steps to deselect all repositories.
- After SSP restarts to finalize the sync update, close SSP.
- Browse to the folder in the path of the error - This should be C:\Users\Public\Documents\R-Technics\SongShow Plus.sync and then some numbered folders. These would be associated with the Sync account.
- With SSP closed, rename the existing SongShow Plus.sync folder to SongShow Plus.sync-old to preserve the data until complete.
- Launch SSP.
- Reconnect the repositories.
- Initiate Sync after restart and allow it to complete. This should complete successfully. Assuming this is the case, the renamed -old folder can be deleted.
This process should restore operation on the machine in question.
