Fonts in my slide show are not showing up on the Signage Player display

3/3/2022

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus and Signage

Symptom:
When publishing a slideshow to a player (DSD), the font(s) that appear in the slide builder preview are not showing up as expected on the Digital Signage Device (DSD) presentation.

Possible Cause:
The fonts available for use with signage content are limited to the ones available by default in the operating system installed on the Digital Signage Device (DSD).
There is currently no mechanism that will transport and install additional fonts to the DSD.

If the user applies a font that is not supported by the player operating system, it will most likely use one of the following as the default font:

  • Arial
  • Times New Roman
  • Verdana

This is expected behavior.

Possible Solution:
The current work-around is to apply custom text section as a static image rather than live text. This limits the ease of editing the content but doe allow the content to display exactly as expected.
