SongShow Drive - An Error Occurred and No Connection error messages

8/10/2022

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus 8.4 and later.

* Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When using the SongShow Drive app in SongShow Plus (Tools > SongShow Drive) the user may encounter the error messages "An Error Occurred" and  "No Connection" when performing upload or download operations.

Possible Cause:
These messages can be caused by either insufficient space/bandwidth available in the selected repository OR errors with the file transfer itself.  Each SongShow Drive subscription plan has a specific amount of storage and bandwidth allocated and if these limits are exceeded, errors may occur.  Currently, the error messages are not very helpful and that will be addressed in a later release.

  •  No Connection - This error is most likely caused by either insufficient space/bandwidth available in the selected repository. Check your account for details.
  • An Error Occurred - This error is most likely caused by an issue with the file transfer, possibly size or media related.

Possible Solution(s):

  • No Connection - Assuming the lack of space is the issue, simply selecting the larger repository or removing some old content and re-running the operation will resolve the issue.  Users can view space available through their Account page on the website and manage space via the SongShow Drive App in SongShow Plus -- From the main tool bar: Tools > SongShow Drive.
    If the bandwidth is the issue, it is possible that waiting a few days could resolve the issue.  The bandwidth allocation is reset incrementally to allow for continued use but may reach a temporary limit if many large operations are done in a short period. In either case, an upgrade to the SongShow Drive subscription plan to a larger size (plans up to 50 GB are available) may also resolve the issue.  If users find they are storing/moving a lot of content, this would be the preferred solution.

  • An Error Occurred - There are a few known issues that will cause this:
    • If the media files have metadata, this can cause an error.  Try removing the metadata and uploading again.
    • If the media files are too large.  There are two issues here.  The file size limit is 2GB however it is possible with very large files that a timeout can occur.

There is also the website Drive access that can serve as an alternate tool to the Drive app in SongShow Plus.

If this does not resolve the issue, contact the Support Team.
