Videos imported from a phone or tablet may not appear in the expected orientation.
1/6/2021
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions: This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus.
Symptom:
When importing videos from phones, tablets or similar devices, they may not appear in the expected orientation. This may manifest as videos unexpectedly rotated or inverted from the way they were captured.
Possible Cause:
Devices that support display rotation may not create/save the video orientation as expected. Since these can capture content in both landscape and portrait modes, the captured mode may not be the default orientation for saving the video. Keep in mind that while it may display as expected on the device, it may not be correctly oriented for SongShow Plus.
Possible Solution - Before Capture:
Verify settings on device before capture to ensure proper orientation is preserved. There is usually a default orientation in the device for either landscape or portrait and an expected physical orientation of the device. Ensure you are holding the device correctly.
Possible Solution - After Capture:
If you discover that the video was captured in an unexpected orientation on the device, the resulting video can be edited after the fact with a variety of editing software. The Windows 10 Image/Video tool will allow rotation correction.
