A "MediaLooks" watermark is appearing on H.264 (AVC) videos

11/11/2022

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus with the H.264 Plug-in

 * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

NOTE: SSP9.x running on Windows 10 or later does not require the H.264 plug-in to work.  Native Windows support is used.

Symptom:
When trying to play H.264 (AVC) files the user is seeing a "MediaLooks" watermark on the videos when playing them through SongShow Plus.

Possible Cause:
This issue appears to be caused by a rouge MediaLooks CODEC installed (possibly a demo) and may also be triggered by having QuickTime installed as well.  This has been observed with other software besides SSP, even with Windows Media Player.

Possible Solution:
Remove the offending MediaLooks demo.

Possible Solution:
Check for and remove versions of QuickTime.
