A catastrophic error occurs when using the "Search" options when searching the songs database

12/31/2024

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

  * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When searching the songs database and using one of the search options, Search Alphabetically; Search By Text; or Search by Key, a catastrophic error occurs in SongShow Plus for one or more of the selected songs databases.

Possible Cause:
There are no search filters selected OR selected filters are invalid.  This may also occur if there were any recent import or backup restore of song files from a much older installation.

Possible Solution:
When using the search by text function, at least one of the search filter check boxes most be checked.  Currently there are the following available:  Lyrics, Author, Title and Notes.
If selecting one or more of these options does not resolve the issue, toggle them off and on then try it again.

For other search options, if other filters are selected but not valid, errors may occur.  From the Songs tab, select the Filter options button and click on Clear All Filters.

After filter updates, restart SSP and try again.

Possible Solution:

If this started after a recent import/restore of song files:

Try the following:

  1. Open SSP
  2. Select the Songs tab in the Media Files panel.
  3. From the main toolbar select Songs > Search Databases.
  4. Once this menu is open, make note (screen shot would be good) of the available databases, then UNCHECK all options EXCEPT the SongShow Plus option.
  5. Restart SSP.

If this does not resolve the issue, contact the Support Team.
