Checkerboard gray box checker pattern appears on projected output
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus
* Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *
Symptom:
When presenting a black slide on the opening screen or using the Mute Display Toggle button, the presented output has a black and gray checkerboard background.
Possible Cause:
This MAY be Expected Behavior. This is intended to let the user know that full transparency has been enable though the user may not have done this intentionally. It is possible that the Transparent Base setting was turned on in the Output Window Display settings. This setting is used only in very specific instances and should normally not be enabled.
IF the user was trying to enable the Transparent Base setting, it is possible their connections to the target display are set incorrectly.
NOTE: If the user is trying to configure text over live video (TOLV) or a streaming/recording setup, they would need to use the NDI broadcast to enable this. Standard HDMI/DVI/SDI video connections do not support the separate alpha channel required to use a transparent background.
Possible Solution:
The Transparent Base setting should normally be tuned off.
- From the SSP main toolbar select Settings > Display...
- From the Display Settings panel select the Output Window that has the incorrect background.
- Scroll to the bottom of the settings panel and make sure the Transparent Base setting option is set to No.
- Repeat as needed for other enabled Output Windows.
- Click OK to save settings and close.
- Re-start SongShow Plus.
NOTE: If it is really necessary to have the Transparent Base setting enabled, adjustments to the global Slide Properties can also be made to show a solid background for select media types.
