Windows 10 - Updating to build 1809 not recommended at this time

8/16/2021

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus 8 running on Windows 10.

Microsoft Windows 10 has periodic updates to improve features and stability.  The most recent release for Windows 10 was build 1809.  This build has had several reported issues and in most cases the automatic update will be prevented, however, users may still be able to get this, even if unintended, by clicking on the Check For Updates option.

At this time we do not recommend updating to this latest version of Windows 10 since there are a few widely reported Microsoft issues and it appears at least one SSP issue related to video playback.  For more information on these issues refer to this article.

If possible, we recommend that you actively defer the Windows feature updates until further notice.  This will require administrator access where available.  Windows Home versions have limited options to defer updates.

These options can be found in Windows Updates under Advanced Options.

If you have already updated to the 1809 build, you should be able to rollback to the 1803 build for about 30 days in the Windows Add/Remove options.

We will update this again once we are satisfied the issues with SSP are resolved.

UPDATE: SongShow Plus Versions 9.0 and later have resolved this issue.
