What fonts are supported in SSP/SSB?
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus
* Updates affecting this feature may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *
Currently, SongShow Plus (SSP) and the SSP Slide Builder (SSB) support only TrueType fonts.
There are other font types such as OpenType and Adobe Type 1 (and many others) that are postscript fonts primarily used in specific applications for print work. These are not supported in SSP/SSB at this time.
It is possible that other font types, including those mentioned above, may appear in the font selection drop down in SSB but will not apply to the text selected. This behavior has been observed and while not desirable is expected.
To try to use fonts in SongShow Plus they must first be installed in Windows. If the desired font is a TrueType font and properly installed in Windows, it should be available in SongShow Plus.
To see if a font is available in SongShow Plus, one can simply browse the font lists in the Slide Properties in either SongShow Plus Presenter or the Slide Builder. If the desired font is not found, it may not be installed.
To check directly in Windows, you will need to open the Fonts panel.
- Most Windows version have this in the Control Panel.
- Users should be able to navigate directly or do a search for "fonts" in the taskbar.
- Once located, users can search in the fonts panel by name for the desired font.
- The process of installing fonts can vary by operating system and may involve copy/pasting files to the font folder or running an installer.
- It is important to note that font to be used must reside directly in the Windows font folder and not just be a shortcut - this can cause problems with font use.
If you encounter a specific font that doesn't work as expected:
- Verify it is a TrueType font.
- Verify it is installed in the Windows font folder.
- Contact the support team with details and a copy of the font file.
If you have any questions regarding the use of, or issues with, any font use, please contact the Support Team.
