Stretching a Display output over two or more displays - Matrox Devices

7/26/2023

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus (March 2010) and later.

For SongShow Plus (March 2010) and later
There is a way to stretch the output from SongShow Plus over more than one display by using a Matrox Graphics Expansion Devices, commonly referred to as the DualHeadToGo and TripleHeadToGo devices.

This is fairly straight forward since the Matrox device will do most of the work for you.  With this device connected to your projection output of your video card it will still be seen as one output but will be stretched across two or three screens, depending on which device you get.

Simply connect the outputs of the Matrox device to the adjacent monitors/screens/projectors and you have a very wide display.

There is software that comes with the Matrox device but for use with SSP, the Matrox software does not need to be installed at all because we control the device internally.  If you do need to install the Matrox software for some other purpose, make sure the settings are all unchecked and at default configurations to ensure it does not override the SSP control.

For SongShow Plus 8 and later only
It is possible to do this in SongShow Plus 8 and later without using a Matrox device.

Utilizing the additional setting flexibility in the version 8 display controls, it is possible to adjust the output dimensions of the content to span more than one output monitor.

  • Selecting Settings > Display will enter the control area needed.
  • When selecting a Display Window, scroll down to the Placement Area setting and select Specified.
  • Next, scroll down to the Specified Area setting and adjust the position settings.  This will vary depending on how large and which direction you need to stretch to.  This will take a little experimentation to set up as desired.
  • Once the display output is adjusted as desired, select Apply and Close.
