The long-lost ProModule

5/20/2006  < Previous  Next >

As I was working on the non-beta/pre-release installation of SSP, I came across a ProModule that I might as well trumpet as a new feature. It’s the XML Import ProModule. I say this because, somewhere along the way, it got overlooked in the setup builds. This module was actually released in 2003. My guess is that it “disappeared” in late-summer 2004. That’s when we introduced a new setup program (the current one) and must have overlooked it in the process.

The XML Import ProModule is useful to someone who has a large song database in another format, who can access this database using available scripting or programming tools, and who has a little bit of programming skill. With these, a process can be built to extract a song database into an XML document, which can then be imported into SSP using the module.

I have actually mentioned using this module from time to time, not realizing that people weren’t aware of what I was referring to. Well, it’s back again, if you missed it, or wished it were there in the first place.
