Comming next: Slide show feature enhancements
We are wrapping up work on the April 2008 Edition of SSP. Several enhancements will be made to the slide show capabilities of SSP. These include:
- A new and improved photo slides builder
- A new scripture slides builder
- A new text slides builder
- More flexibility for mixing regular text and scripture text within a slide show
- Improvements in laying out slide show level settings for text elements
- The capability to build a slide show from a song for custom editing
- Improved handling of bullet outlines pasted from MS Word
- Exit animations
I will discuss these in more detail in follow-up posts.

YEA!!!!! EXIT ANIMATIONS!!!
Add audio to the videos, and PPT has met its match. Actually PPT can have troubles with audio also. Another thing to note is that I couldn't build anything more than basic with PPT, as I only use it when I have to.
I just thought of one more thing that SSB would need to make PPT obsolete. A SSBPlayer, or a way to export SSB to a WMV or AVI.
Does anyone have any ideas, or if it can be done, on how to link Excel to SSB slides? Currently we use PPT to display prayer requests, through SSP, that volunteers input within Excel. Both being MS products it does work flawlessly, however, it adds another element or another piece of software needed into our workload. As we have to open PPT to refresh the links as service starts. This part of the service tends to get hectic as last minute changes are made to the service, uuugh.
If I can have SSP/SSB carry the whole load for the service, it would make life much easier.
Thanks everyone!

Yes, you can!
I was all set to give you the bad news, but I fired up SSB and there is an option for an OLE option.
- Select Slide -> New and then scroll down the slide templates and pick on of the OLE slides. Or you can insert an OLE object from the side bar.
- Right click on the OLE object and select Edit.
- Select "Create from File" (rather than "Create New").
- Click the browse button and browse and select your Prayer request spreadsheet.
- Click the Link checkbox next to the browse button and make user that the Display as Icon is not selected.
Those are the settings that worked for me. You may need to play around with them.
But that should get you started down the right path.
