Version 8.0 > Activation

This procedure does not work for me - can someone help I have tried the e-mail and phone numbers without success.
Dean,
We'll get in contact with you early next week to research the problem.
I need to clarify too that the contact phone and email in the unlock process will be valid once the product is in Production release. Presently all support needs must go through this forum.
I enter my customer ID and my zip code (default) and It searches for a license but then gives me a support phone number and this phone number is some type of practical joke which doesn't even go to GoFish Media but some ID theft scam which says I've won a trip on a cruse vacation. Really is this some type of practical joke do I win a prize?
Of course I did this over the weekend when all the SSP staff are sailing the cruise ship playing the casino what else could go wrong.
We will be making an update on the server side and will post again when that is complete.
ALL,
We have made a few changes on the server side and you should be able to active SSP 8 now.
Let us know if you run into any other issues.
FYI - Any one that is current was given a SSP 8 license so answer 'YES' to that question in the process...
Thanks,
I wanted to follow up again on the SongShow Plus 8 activation process and offer some important information, tips and a walk-through of the expected activation process for the initial run.
- During the activation process you should be selecting option B - I want to activate this machine for projection.
- You will need your full SSP ID. The full Customer Account ID can be found in the About section of your current SSP 7 installation.
- All current subscribers were automatically given a SongShow Plus 8 license.
- Your password is your zip code. For some customers the +4 zip code was used in the database so if your 5 digit zip code does not work then try your zip+4. If this does not work, reply back in this thread and we can verify your information.
Activation Walk-through
- After installing SongShow Plus 8 you should get a prompt when launched indicating that you will need to unlock. Click OK.
- The tool will gather some information and the should give you a list of 5 options. Select option B – I want to activate this machine for projection.
- The next question should be “Have you received a Projection Activation Code?” Select No and click Next.
- The next question should be “Does your organization have a SongShow Plus 8 License?” Select Yes and click Next.
- The next question should be “Do you know your Customer Account ID and password?” Select Yes and click Next.
- The next step will be to enter your information. The Organization ID is the same as the Customer Account ID – enter the full number. The password is your zip code. Click Next.
- The next step should populate a list of systems that you have available to apply the license to. Select the appropriate one. FYI – At this time the “New Machine” option is not enabled. Please select one of your existing machines to proceed and click Next.
- The final step will process the activation and you should get a confirmation that it is activated.
If the process you go through deviates from any of this let us know and we can investigate. When you do reply, please let us know at what point you ran into trouble and we will reply to you directly to get additional particulars for your activation process.

I'd like to try this on a workstation. Can you give instructions as detailed as above to install it as a workstation? Or is that not yet available? Thanks.
You can do a workstation.
The instructions and tips are the same except you select Option C (for Workstation) at the initial screen.
You will still need to follow the remaining steps to complete the Workstation activation.
Hope this helps.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the feedback.
I have verified your behavior and we are investigating it. I will let you know when this is corrected.
A couple of days later I updated my SSP renewal for another year. That worked fine on both of my projection machines
Trouble is the Version 8 one is telling me my update service will run out in a few days, and I can find no way to do this?
Can anyone help - or what will happen in 3 days when thinks version 8 my license is expired?
Thanks
As long as you have waited at least a day or so since you renewed you should be able to go through the activation process again to update the license.
From within SSP 8, go to the main tool bar and select Tools > Activation... and go through the steps there. It should see that you are renewed and allow you to update.
If you run into issues let us know.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the feedback.
I have verified your behavior and we are investigating it. I will let you know when this is corrected.
Any update on this?
If not, is there any chance of having a temporary evaluation key or something so I can take a look?
It looks as if the space in the postcode is what's upsetting it.
If my postcode is AB1 2CD, then if I enter 'AB1 2CD' I get 'communication with the server failed'. If I enter 'AB1 xxx', I get 'communication with the server failed', but if I enter 'AB12CD' or '00000', then I get 'The password entered is not correct'. So, it looks as if it is just checking what is entered up to the first space against what my postcode is up to the first space, then probably getting upset because that isn't my full postcode.
We had identified that it was the space as you indicated and are in the process of correcting this.
When it is complete there will be a new update posted, hopefully in the next couple days.
FYI – the expected format in the activation tool for these postal codes is with the space and capital letters - the tool is case sensitive.

To all our friends in the UK, Canada and anywhere else that uses the alpha numeric postal codes, this issue has been fixed and you should be able to activate as expected.
Thanks - I can confirm that activation works now
I successfully activated except that H.264 licensing did not activate. Any way around this now?
Dick
Did you try to play a file?
In the Preview build this should work regardless. We are working on fixing the activation part...
Thanks
Unable to initialize SongShow Plus. Reason: Cannot create ISearchManager with CLSID_CSearchManager. This problem may be due to corrupted installation. Try reinstalling SongShow Plus.
I have tried downloading from different computers and reinstalling. It goes through the full install and this error comes up after the SSP splash screen when starting SSP. I have not tried an uninstall of either V8 or V7. This is on a Dell XPS 720 running Vista that has V7 as a workstation.
Any help would be appreciated.
Posted By Todd Turner on 16 Jul 2013 09:49 PMI am trying to find where I read it, and I may be wrong, but I thought version 8 was only for Windows 7 and Windows 8.
I have tried installing each update to version 8 and have gotten the same error message:

That is odd. I have only done one Vista installation at this point for testing but it did work as expected.
What Service Pack do you have installed? Is the system up to date?
Posted By George Taylor on 17 Jul 2013 04:25 PMGary - thanks for the thought; that might be it. I found at http://www.ssplash.com/Forums/tabid...fault.aspx that testing would be minimal for XP & Vista. So it appears that it is expected to work, but might be an untested glitch.
Todd,

What Service Pack do you have installed? Is the system up to date?
George - I am not at home and so cannot check my service pack, but it should be up to date. I just did one right before I last tried to install SSP V8, and also did an update shortly before the first time I tried to install it. If necessary, I might be able to try it on my (really) old Dell 8200 (from 2002, & not sure it has the minimum requirements), otherwise my other available computers are projection computers & I would prefer to avoid that, as is recommended in other posts.
The only other thing that I can think of is if it might be my antivirus - ESET/ENOD. It is set to block all attempts to connect to the internet (except for IE) without approval (a pop up allows temporary access) when programs attempt to connect. Really annoying, but I lost the ESET password and cannot modify this rule, either generally or on a case-by-case. But no other program has shown any problem with this, it just waits for me to approve the connection, so I am unsure that the antivirus is the problem.
Again, thanks for any thoughts that anyone may have to help.
Based on the message, it's possible that your system has an earlier version of Windows Desktop Search than what SSP 8.0 uses. You'll need to have the latest service pack for Windows Vista installed. In any case, the error message should be more informative so it's good for us to know this.
Regarding SSP 8.0 and Windows versions: The plan is for SSP 8.0 to run on both Windows XP and Windows Vista although some features may not be fully supported on those platforms. And it is true our primary test platform will be Windows 8, with Windows 7 still getting considerable attention.

Thanks for the advice. It was the Search, but I discovered it was disabled in msconfig. I enabled it and rebooted and no more problem.
I have only opened V8 and not played with it yet, but I like the floating panels.
Thanks again.
Todd
Using NVidia control panel I forced ssp8 to use the NVidia GPU then started SSP8 and it asked me to unlock, so I tried but then wouldn't reactivate.
Also while nvidia control panel has a profile created for SSP8 it will refuse to load, instead asking to unlock.
Removing the profile fixed the issue but now I can't reactivate it as a projection machine, the activation process says the code is not available for use. It may already have been used to activate a license.
It would seem that your configuration change altered the machine ID and invalidating the unlock. If you are able to restore your previous configuration it should begin working again. At that point you can do the deactivation process (freeing up the unlock) then change the configuration again and reactivate.
If that does not work let me know and I can get some information to deactivate on our end to free up your SSP 8 license.
Tried but hasn't fixed it. I have restored the computer settings and deactivated the songshow license.
For a step-by-step...
When trying to activate as a projection machine now it gets stuck in a loop...
I have tried option B and D, and it goes like this...
Enter code and password -> Verifying code -> Will this machine be used as a non-projection workstation (No) - > This code is intended for non-projection.....(Yes) -> Have you received a Projection Activation Code (Yes) -> Enter code and password ...and it continues to loop.
If I allow it to activate as a workstation then open the activation process again to change it to a projection license it gives me the license not available for use page.
One thing to also note, it didn't bring up the list of licenses to choose from.
Is there any other information you need to reset the activation?
Chris
Option D is for activation codes only, which no one has been issued at this point.
I am contacting you directly to resolve the issue and determine what caused this in the first place.
We just renewed our SSP license about two weeks ago but in SSP8 I continue to receive the message telling me that my subscription is going to expire at the end of the month. When I try to renew my subscription in SSP8, I enter my zip code for the password and then it continues on like it is going to renew and then throws the error "Unhandled Branch".
There was a significant change to the back end activation process that will require reactivation of SSP 8.
When you install the new build (11/13 or later) it will prompt you for reactivation. This is expected behavior. You should be able to select the same system name that was used previously to activate your system.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not try to activate any previous builds of SSP 8 (11/7 or earlier) going forward since this will cause an issue with your system unlock. It will appear to unlock normally but when you update to the 11/13 build (or later) it will require activation again. This may require that you contact us to get this corrected. If this does occur or additional unexpected behavior occurs you can post in this thread.
Still waiting for the activation code. we are stuck until you help us. ssp phone support says sorry you have to go thru the forum. we have paid for this and to me this seems like very poor support. you should be able to give me an activation code the same day, but day after day continues to go by with no help.
What is the behavior during activation?
In order to provide assistance we will need at minimum your SSP ID.
If you reply with that info we can investigate.
I did some investigation and worked back from the SSPlash user name.
I have sent an email to the addresses on file and received an out of office response from one address.
If you are reviewing this please respond with your SSP ID for further assistance.

Have you tried reactivating that system? If you connect and go through the activation process it should detect an active license and ask if you want to update it.
I suggest going through that process and let me know what happens. If that does not work we can take a look at the account details to make sure everything is correct on this end.
Finally figured out my problem & got through the activation - but then immediately got an error report that prevents opening the program. Tried a reinstall/repair & same error. The activation issue is ok at least, so thanks. Will get a bug report in as soon as I can get email working on this computer.

I looked up your info and am sending you an email outside the forum.
You can send me the info that you have.
Thanks
I'm having an activation issue as well. I begin the process, enter the license and password, and choose the license for SSP7, then I receive an error "Key missing: Accoundldentifier" Can you give me some guidance please.
Thanks
First to clarify - this is for SSP 8 rather that SSP 7 correct?
Since you posted here I assumed the former but want to be sure.
Also what build date of SSP 8 do you have installed?
I pulled your account and it appears that you have one active license and it is available. The label it is "Main" and it is not activated for SSP8. I did also see that you have created and activated a workstation for SSP 8 on 1/19. If you run through the activation process again selecting the projection option you should see it in the machine list. I went through the process with your credentials and it was showing as expected.
Let us know if you still have trouble.
What am I doing wrong?
Download the SSP 8 build dated 1/15/2014 and install it. You should then be able to activate successfully.
Also a side note: You stated you are "upgrading" to SSP 8. Be aware that you can install SSP 8 but it is a Preview edition and as such is not necessarily ready for production use. Also this installation will not replace or un-install your SSP 7 installation - they will run side by side on the same system.
Please review the other Version 8 posts for additional information.
It says missing accoundindentifier after I went though the steps of selecting main. This happened also Sunday and it automatically opened as a workstation. I took photos of each step I took as a record so it would help resolve the problem/bug
Which SSP8 build do you have installed?
Did you download a build in the last few days? If not download the current build, install it and then try the activation again.
There was a glitch with the activation yesterday but that should be resolved now.
Please try to activate that again. If it fails to complete I need to know what the error is. A screen shot would be best.
I just tried again and it shows no projection license available. It looks like several are having the same issue. Looks like there must be some bug in the activation area of the program or on the servers.

Greg H.
It appears that your issue was similar to the other Greg - the activation was previously done using the old build on the new system (which failed) and consumed that licence.
I have sent you an email with some additional information but it should be fixed for you now.
Let me know if it does not.
Any help?
Thanks
It appears that you have an old build of SSP 8 installed.
Download the current build (01/15/2014), install it and then activate again.
In most cases, the licenses have been named to match the systems for easy recognition.
Once consumed by activation, the license will not show up in the available list anymore.
If you have already activated on another system this is probably why it is not showing up. If you return to that system and deactivate the activation through the same tool, the license will become available for the new machine.
Let me know if this does not work for you. I can pull the account and verify what is activated.
If I can get the name of your organization I should be able to look up your account details. I will be able to confirm the status and check on the H.264 part as well.
We are Shrewsbury Assembly of God in Shrewsbury, PA.
I looked up your account and I see the issue.
The one that currently has the H.264 plug-in associated with it is the one labeled "Fellowship Hall" and it is still not activated for SSP 8. The other one labeled "Main" does not have an H.264 plug-in but is activated for SSP 8.
Reminder - The H.264 plug-in is licensed per machine not per account.
If you want to try the H.264 with SSP 8, your quickest way would be to deactivate SSP 8 on the system (freeing up the "Main" license) and reactivate using the "Fellowship Hall" license on the same machine.
Keep in mind it does not really matter where you use the license because they are fully and immediately transferrable with the new license mechanism.
Alternatively you could contact the support team and purchase a second H.264 plug-in. FYI - It would take a day to update on your account for SSP 8 use.
This should resolve your issue.
I see what you are saying...
Since we are still working on the new mechanism and associated database, there is some lag in updating the changes to the main database.
That said it appears that the change was made several days ago - the SSP 8 database should have updated the change by now.
In either case it appears that you have a handle on the process. Be aware - it may switch on you when the update catches up with itself...
Worst case you will have to do the deactivate/reactivate again.
Thanks
Sometimes there is a delay in the update - when did you renew?
If you send me the name of your organization I can verify the status.
I am investigating.
Thanks

Doug, Statesville Full Gospel still want update subscription.
Jeff, This has been corrected. You will have to re-run the activation process for the license and the About page to be updated on your system.
Let us know if you have any other issues.
Posted By Charles on 16 Mar 2014 04:51 PMCharles,
Ok it has done it again I need to get this fixed before Wednesday please.
I need to know the name of your organization so I can look up your account.
Also, after the unexpected restarts did the operating system re-enumerate devices or discover new ones? Have you changed any hardware on the system recently?
Please give me a detailed description of the following components of your SSP 8 system:
CPU:
Video Card:
Video card driver:
Network Card:
Motherboard:
Disk drive:
Thanks.
In case I need it sometime (and to possibly help Charles), is there an easy way to get that info with the details you need? Is it OS version dependant?
Driver info will have to come from the video tool or device manager.
Posted By George Taylor on 17 Mar 2014 11:00 AMCharles - I still need your org name so I can find your account. We also have something we need to run to help determine root cause. Please get me that info so I can pull the account and contact you directly.

Thanks for the info. I was able to pull your account and confirm the status - it does appear that all 3 have been activated.
I have emailed you outside the forum to further discuss the situation. Please confirm I have the right email address and I think we can get this resolved for you.
A few things:
Are you installing on the same machine? if so it won't matter because the license is preserved. You only have to deactivate if you are changing systems.
You seem to be implying that you cannot install the software now that it is deactivated. Did you mean activation? The installation does not rely on any activation state - it will install regardless. Only the launching will be affected if it is not activated. At that point is will prompt for activation.
I was able to pull your account and see that activations have been made and the sanctuary license is still activated. If you have changed systems you need to go back and deactivate at the original system.
If there is something else going on, I will need to get more details to figure out what is happening.
Just wanted to follow up - Thanks for your time this morning. I am glad we could resolve your license issue.
FYI to All - If you deactivate your license while disconnected from the internet, the local system will be deactivated but the server will not know that the license is available again. If you encounter this please post to this thread so we can take a look at your situation.
Thanks,
Kim
First off Welcome Aboard. Thank you for Choosing SongShow Plus.
Regarding the SSP 8 activation:
SSP 8 is completely stand alone and does not require that SSP 7 be installed or activated for SSP 8 to work. If you have them both installed that is fine as well since SSP 8 is designed to run along side SSP 7.
If you have installed SSP 8 and launched it, did it prompt you for activation on start up? If so what was done at that point?
I assume that you have the latest build of SSP 8 but it is worth checking - verify you have the 4/01 build of SSP 8.
If that is the case then you should have a license available. The other thing that we will want to check is that the SSP 8 database was updated with your purchase info. Please provide the name of your organization so that I can look this up and verify everything is OK on our side.
Also of note: Your system must be connected to the internet for the activation to work.
If this does not get the activation resolved we can get together and take a look to see what is going on.
If you can give me the specific steps that you take before getting the "Invalid state" message this will give us a place to start.
Thanks,
Thank you for the response. I have the most recent version of SSP8. In the activation screen, I followed the steps as stated in a previous post. However, I did have to add a new machine since I have not activated my license on any machine before. (Thought I read that the "new machine" does not work--that's why I thought I would need to activate SSP7). Anyway, the name of my organization is Harvest Time Assembly. Let me know if you need anything else to get this running.
Thanks!
Kim
Thanks for the additional info.
To clarify a couple of points:
You are correct that right now the "New Machine" option does not work.
If you select the "Activation as Projection" option you should get a list of licenses above the New Machine but it sounds like there was nothing listed.
I am investigating now and will let you know when I have an update.
We will try to get you going ASAP.
Any help is appreciated.
Greg
I will need some additional info to investigate.
Please give me some additional details on the messages you are receiving during activation. Also please provide the name of your organization and the name of the license that you are trying to use to activate with (the name selected from the list during activation) so I can track this down.
Any progress on my situation?
Kim
Sorry I did not post back but your issue was reported and it was corrected. I checked the account and you should have the SSP 8 activations available.
If you do not let me know and we can get together to do a remote and see what is going on.
My Organization name is SonCoast Community Church, and the license is the Backup Projection machine. When I tried to activate it gave a message title License Activated, but underneath it listed invalid license.
There was some other messages I have gotten but I do not remember them.
Greg
Thank you,
Dana Gall
Hi Dana,
I checked your account and it appears that both the "Main" and the "Laptop" licenses are available - I logged in using your credentials and verified it in the activation process.
If you happen to be getting the " Something caused your license to be invalid" message, simply select the "activate as normal" path and use one of the licenses listed.
I also tried this with from the admin login, and had the same results. This is a Win 7 machine. We are Bethlehem Community Church, Delmar, NY. Did I miss something?
Posted By jheaps on 11 May 2014 12:23 PMTheoretically speaking, updating drivers shouldn't cause this to happen, and even an operating system upgrade shouldn't either. But in practice, it appears that some updates do cause this to happen. We would like to better learn what those are. What drivers did you update?
I just updated a couple of drivers on my projection system and I now get " Something caused your license to become invalid" message. When I go through the activation process it says there are no projection machines listed for this account. The same thing happened when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I had to call customer service to fix it. Is this normal behavior any time anything is updated on the projection machine?
