External Players ( PowerPoint (PPT) - Web Pages - DVD ) and how they are used in SongShow Plus

External Players are used in SongShow Plus to provide limited support for media sources that we do not have full control over.  As such there are also limitation in SongShow Plus when using External Players.

Currently the following External Players are available in SongShow Plus:

• PowerPoint (PPT)
• Web Pages
• DVD

These can be used for placing specific content on the primary output display.  Slide Properties for External Player are limited to Margin and Background.

There are several limitations when using External Players.  These include, but may not be limited to:

• External Players will only display on an output with the Purpose set to Presentation.
• External Players cannot have effects or other treatments applied to them.
• External Players cannot be used as backgrounds.
• External Players cannot have overlays (Improv Panel) applied to them.
• External Players cannot be used with NDI broadcast.
• External Players cannot be used with any IMAG or DeckLink solution.

As an alternative to using the External Players it is suggested to obtain or convert the desired content to a format that is supported natively within SongShow Plus.

• PowerPoint slideshows can be converted to native SongShow Plus slideshows or videos using the PowerPoint Import tools. (FAQ22)
• Web Page media content may be downloaded locally or obtained via other means.
• DVD videos may be extracted with 3rd party tools or obtained via other means.
