10/12/2023

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus using Mobile Control.

NOTE: SongShow Mobile Control 1.0 and Mobile Control 2.0 have been replaced with the Mobile Control (PWA)These apps are no longer available in any mobile app store. If you still have the app installed it may or may not work. These are fully deprecated, and no further support will be offered.

Symptom:
While setting up or using the SongShow Mobile Control feature to interact with SongShow Plus, the user is unable to connect to the host SongShow Plus system.

Possible Cause:
Incorrect firewall settings.

If your Host system or network has a firewall enabled, you must allow SongShow Plus inbound and outbound access for proper operation of the Mobile Control features.

The first time you launch SongShow Plus after enabling the Mobile Control feature, you will be prompted to allow SSP access by your Windows firewall (if it is enabled) but if you disallow or cancel when prompted by your firewall, you will not be prompted again.

Troubleshooting Step:
If you have a firewall enabled on your SongShow Plus host system, temporarily disable it and try the connection again.

If you are using the Windows Firewall:

To temporarily disable the Windows Firewall in Windows 10 and later
1.  Enter the Settings Panel from the Start menu.
2.  Search for "Firewall" and select the result - may be Windows Defender Firewall.
3.  In the left pane select "Turn Windows Firewall on or off"
4.  elevate as needed (admin rights required) and select the "Turn off Windows Firewall" option in both the private and public networks.
5.  Click OK to save.

4.  Select the "Turn off Windows Firewall" option in both the private and public networks.
5.  Click OK to save.

If you are NOT using the Windows Firewall:

After temporarily disabling your firewall, check the operation of the SongShow Mobile Control app.  If it works as expected the issue is in your firewall settings.
