Alert: Unable to start the HTTP server. Probably due to another web server running on this system.

10/2/2015

Symptom:
User gets a Notice message with the Alert: Unable to start the HTTP server. Probably due to another web server running on this system.

NOTE: This should occur only when the Mobile Control feature is enabled.

Possible Cause:
This message indicates that another application is already running that has control over HTTP port 80 that is used by default for Mobile Control within SongShow Plus.

Possible Solution:
Find and disable the other application.  It is possible that IIS or another application was installed and is running unintentionally.  If this is the case, find it and remove it.  This should allow SSP to start its required services.  If you are not sure about this, contact your IT Specialist.

NOTE: By default Windows 10 has some IIS components installed that will cause this.  If not in use, you can disable these from the Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off settings.

Possible Solution:
Change the HTTP port that the SongShow Plus Mobile Control will operate on.

1.      Click on Start > Programs > SongShow Plus > Utilities to open the SSP Utilities panel.

2.      Select the Mobile Control Settings option.

3.      *Do Not Enter an IP Address* Click the Default Settings button and leave all of the default selections as they are.

4.        If there is something else using port 80 on the Host system, enter an open port of your choosing in the Port field - 8080 is a common choice.  If you are unsure about this, contact your IT Specialist.

5.        Once a port number is entered, click on Save to save the settings and close the panel.
